Myofascial Release
Myofascial release is a gentle approach to body pain addressing the fascia around the muscles. Typically little or no oil is used and specific areas are held to allow the body to fully respond and unwind tension. Rather than forcing tissue change, myofascial release allows the fascia to gradually soften and lengthen, improving tissue hydration, elasticity, and neuromuscular communication. Traditional massage (like deep tissue) is best for general aches and pains whereas myofascial release addresses chronic pain and long standing discomfort and can get to the root of an issue over a period of sessions.
Restrictions within the fascial system can develop due to injury, repetitive strain, postural patterns, surgery, inflammation, or chronic stress, often contributing to pain, limited mobility, and dysfunction. Sessions are typically slower and more focused, allowing time for the nervous system and connective tissue to respond effectively.
Benefits of Myofascial Release:
• Reduction of chronic pain and tension patterns
• Improved joint mobility and range of motion
• Decreased muscular and fascial restrictions
• Enhanced postural alignment and movement efficiency
• Support for recovery from injury or surgery
• Reduction of nervous system guarding and sensitivity
